Contribution Levels
The significance of each contribution level is to remind us of the rich heritage of production agriculture and the proud people that have made it an endouring success we thought it important to name our contribution levels according to some of the tasks that took skill, patience, and were held in high regard among friends and neighbors.
ROW MASTER
$100,000 + The Row Master recognizes an indivual that stood above all the rest. They were good at every aspect of raising a crop from plowing straight to keeping their fields clean of weeds, and harvesting a high quality crop. We honor our top contributors with this esteamed title. HERDSMAN $50,000 - $99,999 It takes a special person to handle livestock and drive them down the road to the next pasture. But one with such skills not only kept his livestock out of his neighbors fields but moved them with care and precision. We proudly recognize this individual with one of our highest contribution levels. JUNIOR HERDSMAN $25,000 - $49,999 Every young person had to learn the trades and skills of their fathers in order to help work the farm and carry it on. Livestock can be an ornary sort and learning the skills of handling them was especially important for keeping people and animals safe from harm while protecting fences, gates, and stalls. We made this one of our top three contribution levels to remind us that youth play an important part of agricultures success. CORNHUSKER $10,000 - $24,999 During harvest the sign of manhood sometimes consisted of the skill of shucking corn using a hook or peg. With this skill anexceptional worker could harvest 75-100 bushels a day on average. Speed and stamina was required to get the harvest in and it took a strong man to be effective. This contribution level is titled Cornhusker to recognize the hard working people that brought in the harvest. |
PLOWMAN
$5,000 - $9,999 The art of keeping the furrow straight and working the team of horses to their fullest potential carried with it a special pride. Men who were skilled at this task were generally good at whatever they did. Such a strong leader and hard worker deserved to have a place among our contributor levels and is why we honor them. THRESHERMAN $2,500 - $4,999 When the harvest was ready many neighbors united to support the task of threshing wheat. This was hard work and men actually had many tasks to get the grain threshed. Ladies cooked for all the men and everyone large and small had a task. We applaud them for their sense of unity and “helping thy neighbor”. CARTMAN $1,000 - $2,499 Whether pulling a wagon or plowing a field great pride was taken by men who excelled at driving a team of horses or mules. Keeping a team on track and making sure all were pulling their weight took know how and constant attention. We celebrate the skill of the cartman or teamster by placing it as one of our contribution levels. GOLD $500 - $999 SILVER $250 - $499 BRONZE $100 - $249 CONTRIBUTOR $1 - $99 |
