Possible Last Chance To View Opening Bell
2010-07-15
Pit trading was one of the most effective and traditional types of trading until the late 1990’s. As technology has changed so has it. Floor trading is becoming more and more scarce and electronic trading is becoming more efficient in real-time issues. The Sangamon County Farm Bureau Marketing Committee took notice of this and organized a marketing trip to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Chesapeake Energy group. The bus will leave the Sangamon County Farm Bureau office at 6:00 am on July 21st.
This will likely be one of the last chances to see the opening bell on the floor, since floor trading has been quickly conversing over to electronic trading.
At CME, the marketing tour group will then listen to a fund trader to learn how fund activities influence the commodity markets. The group will then eat a delicious lunch in downtown Chicago and make their way over to Chesapeake Energy.
Chesapeake Energy is the second largest producer of natural gas in the nation and the most active driller of new wells in the U.S. The group will meet with two meteorologists to learn how they use complex weather forecasting to provide speculative analysis on weather’s impact on crops, commodities, and markets.
This trip is one that will interest everyone from marketing professionals to the beginners. Join fellow members as you learn together and share the experience.
